This Friday I am going to the MAD Blog Awards as a finalist in their Best Pregnancy Blog category, alongside the lovely Emma, Hayley, Sue, Jaime and Charlotte. Just like last year the awards are set in one of my favourite London hotels, the Royal Garden Hotel in Kensington, and I am anticipating a thrilling evening filled with laughter, wine and an excellent vegetarian dinner. Unlike last year, I hope not to find myself teetering boozily about the hotel on a microscooter at midnight nor trying not to be sick in a taxi filled with potential new friends on the journey home.
(Note to self: two glasses of wine is more than enough for post-children Amber. Stop at the second.)
Of course I’d love to win my category. I would. But I have my money on another lovely blogger for the prize and she is so talented and so nice that I think that if she wins, I will be almost as pleased for her as I would be for myself. In fact, all of the ladies in my category are sweethearts and all of them have worked their socks off – I wouldn’t want to have to choose the winner.
Historically before attending an event I’ve posted to say ‘I’m going and this is what I look like and here is what I’m wearing, come say hi!’. But actually, I’m not sure what I’m going to wear yet. I keep meaning to get out and shop, or at least to have a comprehensive browse online, but you know – time…
I’ll just turn up in an oversized paper bag and set a new trend, ok? Maybe Prit-Stick on some sparkles and call it done? Actually, that would be hilarious. Until the bag ripped. Then nobody would be laughing.
But if you’re there, I do want you to come and say hi to me! ESPECIALLY if I’m dressed in a paper bag and trying to look like I’m owning it. That is when I’ll really need your support.
So this is me, sans bag-dress and with extra baby. If we haven’t met, I’d love to meet you. If we have met, I’d love to see you. If you’re feeling shy, come and find me and I’ll gladly introduce you to my friends and make sure that you’re not left alone in a corner.
This is going to be fun.
Will I see you there?
