Hi! We are the Wildes and this is our very modern love story.

Mostly, this blog is written by Amber – that’s me. Hello! I’m in my late twenties and most of the time you can find me in the office, winging it with a cup of coffee the size of my own head and permanent impressions left on my nipples from my new and somewhat sadistic best friend, the breastpump. I’m a mother to four lovely little characters aged four and under, one set of twins born in 2014 and then a second set born in 2016! Our lives are never dull.

I am a big fan of all things unicorns and rainbow, chocolate-covered coffee beans, dressing my children in clothes I probably can’t quite afford and browsing Right Move for country retreats that would be completely incompatible with my job in London. Photography owns most of my heart, but I’m developing a bit of a crush on video too.

Kirsty is my best friend and my soul mate; she is endlessly patient and kind, creative and fun, and the best mother that our little ones could ever have. She loves babywearing, knitting and crochet, oversized jumpers and ice cream.

These monkeys are Balthazar and Lysander, Zaza and Sasha. They were born in October 2014 and are the cheekiest, funniest little people and such characters, they make us laugh every day with their antics. When they’re not idling time on their windowsill watching the world go by, they enjoy Dr Seuss in all of his many forms, pushing cuddly toys about in plastic trolleys and stealing illicit ‘bikkits’ from the counter tops.

Embla and Olympia are our second set of twins. They are the sweetest girls and so far, they’ve been fairly straight-forward babies – although quite different from each other. Motherhood the second time around has been so much easier for me, even though there are now SO MANY OF THEM, and we are loving having babies in the house again.

Finally, this is Josephine. She was a holiday souvenir from a trip to Greece long before we had children and she is just as much one of the family as the children!

Our Modern Love Story

Once upon a time, two best friends fell in love. We were fifteen years old and the best of friends, and we fell into bed one day when Kirsty was recovering from chicken pox and all scabby and nasty, and I was harbouring influenza but didn’t quite know it (for a little while I suspected that the head-pounding, giddy-sick feeling was just ‘being in love’). It hasn’t all been plain sailing, of course, but thirteen years on we’re still head-over-heels and have four beautiful, noisy children.

In its previous incarnation, Meet the Wildes (then known as ‘The Goblin Child’) was a finalist in Best Baby Blog and Best Photography Blog in the MAD Blog Awards 2015, was a finalist in Best Pregancy Blog in the MAD Blog Awards 2016 and won Best Blog Photography at BML 2016. I was thirty-five weeks pregnant with the girls at the time and desperately hoped that my waters would break on stage so that I could give a – gushing – acceptance speech but alas, no such luck! I’m a sponsored Channel Mum vlogger and I’m really excited about expanding my channel in 2017.

It’s so lovely to learn more about you both. I kept meaning to swing by after your FB message, but I’m a bad blogger and always get sidetracked. But I am here and am glad I visited. Have followed on Bloglovin. Looking forward to following your journey. Your photography is gorgeous, would love some tips some day 😉

Lovely photos! I’m from an LGBT family, my non-bio mum (size 6 and super slim) used to love telling people she had a newborn baby at home. She was congratulated many times on losing the baby weight so quickly! haha.

I love your photos, the way you capture day to day life. You make it looks fun but I know how hard it is (being a dad of 3)!
