On Tuesday, on the same day as Kirsty turns twenty-six, my grandmother turns eighty. She doesn’t celebrate birthdays for religious reasons but she indulged us today by letting my aunt and uncle host a little get-together in her name, and there was plenty of dessert if no actual birthday cake.
We’ve been so excited for the party. Some of my relatives travelled down to London all the way from Cornwall to attend and it was lovely to catch up with them. We also had a chance to see the twins’ second cousin, who was born six weeks after they were. He’s tremendously cute.
Dressing babies for this kind of event is a joy and a challenge: you want an outfit that is beautiful, because you’re showing your child off to some of the people whose opinions you care about the most and because there are sure to be multiple cameras in attendance, but it also needs to be functional – they’re not dolls, after all, and at their age (seven months) their clothes need to be comfortable for movement and play.
Frugi generously sent the twins these outfits – and some bodysuits, which will feature in a separate post shortly – and they were just PERFECT for an event like this. The soft fabrics provide lots of room for the boys to wriggle about and the designs are just gorgeous – everybody complimented us on how well they were dressed. My mum is threatening to buy a second pair of sailboat dungarees, in fact, so that they can both wear a pair at the same time! I won’t argue with that!
Aren’t they BEAUTIFUL? The clothes as well as the twins, of course! The little details absolutely make the outfits; I love the pelican with the creatures sitting in his open beak, it’s all so cute.
I wanted to shoot and share these outfits in action, on a real family day. In real life.
*Frugi sent us these items for a review but all opinions are entirely my own (and shared by my extended family, haha!).
My Two Mums and Goblin Child have made it to the finals in the Mad Blog Awards! We would love it if you would vote for us to win in the Best Baby (Goblin Child), Best Family Fun (My Two Mums) and Best Photography (Goblin Child) categories.
