Me and Mine in August

One of my favourite things about the Me & Mine monthly portrait linky is that it goes live on the day that the twins turn another month old.  Today the twins turn ten months and are transitioning rapidly from babies into young toddlers, with all the fun that entails.

This month they have become very steady on their feet, experimenting with taking their hands off of the walls.  They have learnt to copy each other, clapping and bouncing and shouting in unison.  They mimic sounds, have learnt ‘high five’, and Lysander is making an attempt at feeding himself with his spoon.  Kirsty says that Balthazar recognises the colour yellow but I’m not sure that I believe her.  Lysander now shakes his head when he’s unimpressed.

One of their favourite games is rolling a ball back and force between each other, and they play a great game of ‘boo’.  They like to push each other about in boxes and to bang on the washing machine.  Balthazar once managed to get in it, at which point he became extremely alarmed and shrieked for help.  They like to shut each other’s fingers in cupboard doors, necessitating constant watching in the kitchen.

This month we went camping and attended the twins’ first ever festival.  Josephine-dog was invited along too as the festival was intentionally dog-friendly, and had a great time snacking on salad – yes, really! – and exploring the beach.

It’s been a fashionable month.  Kirsty updated her collection of jumpers and Amber promptly pinched them, before complaining repeatedly that Kirsty had nothing to wear.  The boys were sent some gorgeous bodysuits to review from Maxomorra’s new AW15 collection which have attracted many compliments ranging from their 80-year-old great grandma to several trendy-looking teens on the Southbank.

Lysander celebrated six months of treatment for his haemangioma and a much-improved eye.  He still clearly needs the medication but we’re hoping that he’ll be off of it by January.  They have six teeth between them (four for Lysander and two for Balthazar) but have not yet learnt to bite.

And we celebrated a year of blogging!  You might notice that the blog is looking at little different today.  My blog’s ‘birthday present’ of sorts was a new layout which should be easier to navigate and look a bit cleaner and brighter.  We’re all quite in love with it – what do you think?  Let me know if you spot anything that needs adjusting, especially if you know how to fix it!
