You may recall that recently a friend and I spent a day at Bubble London, a kids’ fashion trade show. One of the most exciting opportunities to come off the back of that was a chance to review a few key pieces from Maxomorra’s AW15 collection which were sent to me a few weeks ago and which I’ve been keeping under my hat ever since.
You guys, even the stockists hadn’t been sent images of these designs when they rocked up with the postman and I was sworn to secrecy about the prints that featured on these vibrant blue and green bodysuits. It very nearly killed me. To put it in context: I didn’t even manage to keep my pregnancy with the twins quiet for this long. So without further ado, allow me to finally share with you the twins’ latest bit of Maxomorra which they wore recently for an evening stroll down the South Bank on a ‘date night’ with the mummies.
London demands colour. The South Bank teems with energy on warm summer evenings with tourists and locals alike coming to enjoy the exhibitions and food market and festivals, to watch the skateboarders at South Bank’s famous skate park, to gaze at the river or run through the fountain or simply sit, as we sat, to enjoy the atmosphere. These playsuits from Maxomorra looked super cool against the vibrancy of the background, seeming to work with the busyness rather than compete against it.
As you can see, Lysander is wearing Little Car by Maxomorra and Balthazar is wearing Vintage Planes by Maxomorra. These were chosen for the twins by Maxomorra and I think they did a great job; I love that the colours bring out Balthazar’s almost-green and Lysander’s very blue eyes. Obviously these outfits aren’t intended to match but it makes me happy that the tones coordinated. Maxomorra have brought out top and trouser versions too which would look super on an older child.
In terms of fit, Maxomorra is generously-sized. The twins (nine months old) are wearing 74/80 here with plenty of room to grow, I can see them lasting for a good few months.
It was lovely to sit out for an hour, to soak up the sun and the chatter and the excitement. To put the babies on the floor and let them explore, to race each other across the pavement (much to the delight of onlookers) and navigate the shallow steps. To laugh together, to sip coffee and talk.
Our bodysuits were a bit worse for wear after the twins had crawled about in the London grime for half an hour, but Maxomorra tends to be great quality and to wash well. We popped these in the washing machine and THANK THE DEITIES the staining came out no problem and with zero damage to the print from either wash or play. What a relief!
Big thank you to Maxomorra for a chance to review and enjoy these beautiful bodysuits. It’s been a pleasure and now that the designs have been released to the general public I can’t wait to take the boys out in these prints and properly show them off!
If you’re based in the UK, my favourite Maxomorra stockist is KyNa Boutique.
